We are keeping warm here in California, where I am figuring out seven different ways to sneak aboard a ship, and if I can work up the energy to tear apart a short story and rewrite it as it needs to be rewritten, and what should I work on first?
Here are some new things learned: being unemployed merely changes the writing stresses, it does not alleviate them; being nominated for an award merely changes the flavor of imposter syndrome, it does not alleviate it; having ideas to write and deadlines to write them for merely changes the depression triggers … you get the picture.
But 2018 is starting off far different, and better, than 2017, and like the Little Engine That Could, I think I can, on all fronts.
We went out for Chinese last week and my fortune was Don’t give up, the beginning is always the hardest. Evergreen.
In other news, mailing list subscribers are getting Leviathan updates and short story annoucements first, so if that sounds good why not give it a try? I promise not to bombard you more than once a month, and I try to include something pretty each time.
