I will be at FOGcon this weekend! On Friday at 4:30, I will be reading as part of the Broad Universe Rapid Fire Reading (TM?), where it looks like I’ll be reading the first few scenes of “We Are Sirens” – at least, that’s the thing that’s reading best at the moment. On Saturday I’ll be … around. 😉 Sunday morning I’ll be paneling at the early hour of 10:30 on self-publishing and all the things I would have done differently. Say hello! Join me for a drink! Hit me up for a copy of Vacui Magia, now with its cute prize sticker on the front!
Right now, however, I have an index to edit … but I’ve been mulling over this George Saunders quote I read today, about the work of Grace Paley:
[Grace] seems to say, the world has no need to be represented: there it is, all around us, all the time. What it needs is to be loved better. Or maybe: what we need is to be reminded to love it, and to be shown how, because sometimes, busy as we get trying to stay alive, loving the world slips our mind.
My guilty pleasure to balance out the crazy index project has been, most recently, the first of Naomi Novik’s Temeraire books. There is a lot of love in that novel.
