meeting deadlines

August 29, 2013 by L.S. Johnson

so i have finished, for the most part, another short story.  i’m not sure if it completely suits the call for submissions that inspired it, but i very much needed to finish something.

it has been an odd summer for the writing.

i have been thinking too about professionalism, and meeting deadlines, and not being so bloody precious about it all.  i’ve got 48 hours left; i’ll be able to do one last walk-through and the last bits of fact-checking tomorrow; then it gets the read-aloud pass, the checking for overused words pass, and off to submittable.  i’m going to make it.

i had all but given up on this one.  feels very good to snatch it back from the brink of failure.
