Vendémiaire

And I nearly forgot! “Vendemiaire” is at Far Fetched Fables

May 24, 2017 by L.S. Johnson

It’s up! I love hearing my work read by others … and that they took the time to explicate the title. It’s turning into a banner week here. 🙂

albeit belatedly. this is what my nights have been like as of late. the story up there, for the record, is “we are sirens.” also on the floor has been “in your end is my beginning,” “echo,” the first act set piece for talassio, and the outline of a novelette tentatively called “dummy.” the last has that shiny new feel to it, but it’s also pretty messed up emotion-wise; pre-holidays might not be the best time to tackle it. but we shall see.

in other news, i woke up to the lovely result that “vendémiaire” has been nominated for a pushcart. as always, i am grateful to rhonda parrish for her unwavering support of my work.

and i’ve been reading this interview with mary rickert, and i’m intrigued enough that i’ve added her to the epic to-read list. check it out, especially if you’re interested in process.

banner day

May 27, 2015 by L.S. Johnson

So yesterday was the B is for Broken release party, which due to faulty timezone mathematics on my part I had to leave early . . . but it means that the book is now out in the world, which means you should go get it.

Yesterday was also the day that Wyvern Lit‘s fifth issue came out, where I have a little story.

AND, yesterday I signed a contract for my story “Little Men with Knives,” which will be appearing in Crossed Genres #31, out in July. I am still over the moon. I have danced with all my cats. I love CG, I love that story, and I am so, so glad it will find a home there. That tale has had a particularly arduous journey to publication, and yesterday was as much relief as joy.

And with that, I will be on radio silence for a while, as I make a push on the novel and also to finish up another short story. Thanks to everyone so far who signed up for my little mailing list, which will be nothing more than a virtual postcard or so every quarter, Scout’s honor. The signup is there <— on the left. As I try to get more structured in my writing time I’m hoping to start a rhythm of a quarterly roundup rather than piecemeal announcements, so that’s the best way to ensure you’ll get all the news I have to tell.
